    • noise removal
    • silence removal
    • over-dub of better sound from a simultaneous recording
    • addition of effects to enhance audio quality
    • compression and normalization to increase volume

Non-Audacity solutions:

Commercial, in advance of recording:

  • Purchase a microphone to plug into a camcorder or audio recorder.
  • Purchase a recorder which contains an amplifier to make a duplicate recording.
  • If recording into a computer, purchase a pre-amplifier or audio interface.
