I want to podcast a lecture.
Audacity Solutions:
- See the WhatIsAudacity.net podcast tutorial.
- Test your recording setup before recording.
- For a professional lecture recording with some permanency, see this university website.
Non-Audacity solutions:
- Use equipment you can borrow.
Commercial Solutions:
- Choose your microphone carefully, keeping in mind the following principals:
- A lavalier type of microphone will work well with a recorder or camcorder which contains an audio adjustment, as such a device will normally contain a pre-amplifier to boost sound.
- The same microphone plugged directly into a computer may have a lapse in volume.
- Boost volume with:
- audio settings in your PC’s Control Panel (accessed from the Start menu),
- a pre-amplifier or audio interface device installed between your microphone and computer, or
- audio compression and normalization of your recording by an audio editor (Audacity).
- Alternatively, plug your microphone into a recorder or camcorder (such devices contain a preamplifier at the microphone connection); then download the recording to your PC.
