If you use more than one browser, you will have noticed that the Viral Tube Community toolbar installed itself only in the browser from which it was downloaded

As a result, you will only need to uninstall the Community Toolbar and search by Conduit home page setting from that single browser.

The toolbar and home page are installed as separate components.

Whether you will need to uninstall both toolbar extension and home page setting depends on whether you installed both, when you installed the toolbar.

At the time of installation, you are presented with options to install these two software components:

  • the Viral Tube Community Toolbar, and
  • the Viral Tube default home page.

The toolbar will not be installed if you deselect the toolbar option. You will simply have a “Viral Tube” home page with a Bing search box which actually is a search by Conduit (www.conduit.com/search) page.

Conversely, the Viral Tube home page will not be installed if you deselect the home page change option.

If you deselect both options, nothing will be installed.

Uninstall the Viral Tube home page and toolbar separately.

If you installed both home page and toolbar, you will need to separately remove the home page and toolbar from your browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari).

Step One: Change your browser’s home page:

In Internet Explorer:

  • CLICK Tools > Internet Options > General Tab.
  • REPLACE the Conduit home page with your preferred page (or ADD a second home page to keep the Conduit page as a separate tab).
  • SCROLL down, CLICK Apply, OK.

(Internet Explorer options may alternatively be changed without going online, from MS Windows: Start > Settings > Control Panel > Internet Options.)

In Firefox:

  • CLICK Tools > Options.
  • TYPE the name of your preferred home page where you see the Conduit home page.
  • SCROLL down, CLICK Apply.

In Chrome:

  • CLICK (in upper right) Wrench > Settings > On Startup.
  • CLICK “Set Pages” link (next to the radio button for “Open a specific page or set of pages”).
  • HOVER over the Conduit URL until you see an “x” appear to the right side of the URL. CLICK on the “x.”

Step Two: Disable or remove the Viral Tube toolbar:

You will find toolbar uninstallation instructions for the above browsers, and also Safari, by navigating to the Viral Tube help website.

With browser upgrades, these instructions seem to change slightly, so that you will need to think instructions through. For example, if you downloaded the toolbar with Chrome, the instructions should be modified to read: Chrome, Tools, Extensions. . . etc. (The word “Tools” is omitted from the instructions on the Viral Tube help website.)

Deselecting toolbar buttons is a good alternative to uninstalling the toolbar.

The Viral Tube toolbar is easy to uninstall and reinstall.

But an easy alternative to uninstalling the toolbar is to deactivate offending toolbar buttons.

For example, there is a Coupon Buddy button on the toolbar which we recommend deactivating in our review. You may activate and deactivate the CB button depending on your need for it.

Deactivating a button means the function of that button:

  • won’t load, so won’t slow your computer.
  • won’t entice and distract you.
  • won’t interrupt you with pop-ups if it delivers pop-ups while you use it.

You will find instructions for deactivating toolbar buttons in our Viral Tube Toolbar Review.

We think you will love using the Viral Tube toolbar for Audacity YouTube tutorials, especially if you keep our toolbar management tips in mind.
